Big labor gains ground—Will they use growth as an issue again?

Under the Dome says the labor folks are gaining momentum, at least locally. Big labor played a huge role in the 2005 Raleigh elections. They ran independent campaigns, in an attempt to elect pro-labor candidates, using growth as a backdrop issue. We suspect they will return this year.

But at the end of the day, do the unions really give a hoot about growth or impact fees? We think not. But they sure as heck do care about organizing our region’s labor force. And they will use and abuse any issue—including impact fees—to elect their candidates to town and city councils across the Triangle.
